Hello everyone. Have you ever considered using crowdfunding?

Commonly, people think:

  • “It seems too difficult.”
  • “The barrier to entry feels high.”
  • “Will people actually donate/invest?”
  • “I’m interested, but I don’t know where to start.”

In reality, if you have a legitimate reason—such as launching a new business or having a great idea but lacking the funds—crowdfunding is an incredibly viable tool.

Our Challenge: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

Recently, we took on a crowdfunding challenge for our education business. Our CEO, Ms. Miyata, founded “Deve-Colle” (Development College)—an online school for mothers—driven by her core philosophy: “To eradicate poverty and bring smiles to children’s faces.”

However, we faced a stark reality: many mothers who wanted to take our courses could not afford to buy a computer. Even if they had the desire to gain skills, earn an income, and provide a better education for their children, the initial cost of a PC was a major hurdle.

The Cycle of Poverty and the Education Gap

The “Cycle of Poverty” is a phenomenon where low parental income prevents children from receiving a sufficient education, which in turn makes those children more likely to remain in poverty as adults.

Every child has talent and potential. It is we, the adults, who sometimes stifle that potential. Children are innocent; they deserve a fair chance.

So, how can we provide these opportunities? The answer lies in the parents. We must empower the parents who raise them with the resources, information, and knowledge they need.

Why Crowdfunding?

In our curriculum, some courses absolutely require a computer. It is incredibly frustrating to see someone decide to change their life, only to give up because they “cannot afford a PC.”

Ms. Miyata was determined to change this. She launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for a PC lending program for students in need.

The results were incredible. So many people resonated with Ms. Miyata’s passion that the support kept pouring in, far exceeding our initial goal.

The Power of the Crowd

When you gather enough supporters, you can harness an incredible amount of power. As a project grows from an individual → team → organization → crowd, it creates a massive “vortex” of change.

Crowdfunding holds immense potential. Many entrepreneurs have turned their businesses into major successes starting from a single campaign.
